On Friday, January 27th, students had a chance to show off their diverse talents and capabilities to the entire school. The annual Gifted and Talented showcase, emceed by Smit Patel, was a wonderful event that brought together musicians, artists, and performers.  All of them performed with determination and amazed the crowd.

Orange Afternoon, a band featuring MH students Miguel Plaza, Nicolas Bova, and Paul Auriemmawa, set the mood by playing both original and cover songs as students entered the auditorium.  Other performers who shared original pieces, such as Carli Lalo, Rhiana Young, Bryan Cadavos, and Trevor Nogues left the audience in awe. Other performances included Nick Cerqueira’s martial arts demonstration and Teresa and Katy Zhang’s duet. Sarah Cortese and Rachel Savoca performed stunning dances. Shalaka Madge, Gianna Gillespie, Virginia Wei, Jacquilyn Nilon all sang. Also featured were the madrigal choir and a preview of the spring musical by its cast.

A performance that brought smiles to everyone’s faces featured David Giansanti reciting Kanye West’s poem on McDonald’s accompanied by Christian Bernal on the bongos. Bethany and Chau Nguyen gave raised the energy by giving an extraordinary hip hop performance. John Mongrella and Hannah Ferguson ended the show with an original song. The endless cheers from the audience were astounding; they never swayed from showing their support.
