Movie Review: Fall in Love with DDLJ

Bollywood is the Hollywood of India. It represents the diverse Hindi film industry and has a library of thousands of different movies. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) is a romance movie from 1995 starring the best on-screen couple, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan. The movie is one of the most successful Indian films in history, making over $60 million worldwide. DDLJ is one of the only movies from 1995 that is still being shown in select movie theaters in India. The plot follows two students who embark on a journey to Europe. The two are polar opposites of each other, but as they spend more time together, they fall in love. The movie gives a perspective into love and parental control in India at the time, proving that family is always above societal views. I recommend watching DDLJ, even though it may be 3 hours long and have awkward dance scenes throughout. It is a great introductory Bollywood movie.
