Lucille’s Guide to Ultimate Summer Destinations
Summer is just around the corner. Soon, we’ll all be out of school and going to beaches, eating ice cream, and drinking ice-cold lemonade with a fan on. Summer time is a time for sleeping in and forgetting about school (not like we have summer homework or anything…). And do you know what else happens in the summer? A long needed vacation – from the Jersey Shore to San Francisco, from Paris to India! I personally would love to travel around the world, but there are so many countries and not enough time. But do not worry, here’s the quick and easy guide of where to go this summer!
US News and World Report compiled list of 13 places to go this summer. Maui, Hawaii is the top pick! The nice tropical islands are not only filled with a rich history and custom, they are also home to some of the most famous beaches in the United States. The more popular coastline, the Kaanapali Beach is three miles long and stretches across Maui’s northwest border. The water is shallow, so it’s perfect for snorkeling and observing the variety of animals native to the Pacific Ocean. Once in a while, a pod of whales can even be spotted from the beach! Don’t want to get wet? Well, Maui is the perfect place to just sit back and relax while staring off into the clear, blue ocean.
Don’t want to stay in the America? Then go to Paris! The City of Light comes up as number two on the list. The famous city offers a multitude of museums and architectures dating back to the neoclassical period. With fine dining and the latest fashion, Paris is a fusion of old and modern. While in Paris, take the time to visit the Louvre, the “famous art museum.” The Louvre is the world’s largest museum and it holds the famous mysterious smile, the Mona Lisa! And of course, one never goes to Paris and not visit the Eiffel Tower! From the top of the tower, one can see almost all of Paris.
Where do Morris Hills students plan to go? The top pick on our list is…. HOME!!! Yes, the majority of students who responded to the question “Where do you plan to go in the summer?” said they just want to stay home and relax. Others plan to visit San Francisco, go on college tours, travel to India, pick up jobs at local restaurants, travel to other states to see relatives, and prepare for SAT (Yikes!). Wherever you decide to go, summer is the best time to immerse yourself in a totally different experience. Enjoy and have fun in summer 2015!
