Costanzo Crowned Homecoming Queen
Morris Hills has outdone itself yet again, with a glorious victory at the Homecoming game followed by a lively homecoming dance in the evening. On October 8th, students and fans filled the stands of Gifford Field, overflowing with school spirit as the football team played aggressively and strategically to earn a well-deserved 34-14 victory over High Point High School.
At halftime, the crowd honored the twelve homecoming nominees: Ariel Mucci, Yesari Mojica, Sarah Walsh, Liz Costanzo, Maggie Rogers, Cat Rewick, Ariana Lopez, Kate Pelkey, Stephanie Cadena, Isabelle Sosa, Zuriel Medina, and Taylor Starks. The crowd grew quiet as the moment everyone had been waiting for all week had finally arrived. Liz Costanzo took the honor of being crowned Queen of this year’s Homecoming and Taylor Starks took the title of Princess.
“I was completely surprised but extremely grateful when I won the title. I hope to encourage other girls to branch out and become involved in school activities, which has been one of the best parts of my high school experience,” Liz said, after winning the crown.
Homecoming Princess Taylor Starks was equally as excited, stating, “It was honestly a shock to have been chosen. Every single one of those beautiful ladies on the court deserved to win! To be selected as the Princess is an honor, and I genuinely thank everyone who came out to vote!”
Senior quarterback Daymon Fleming summed up the day well: “Homecoming is a great day for the whole school, and to get a win our home field on the same day is truly a great feeling.” With a triumphant victory on a beautiful Saturday afternoon football game and a wonderful Homecoming court, it is safe to say that Morris Hills had an extremely successful homecoming this year!
