On September 15th, Scarlet Knights sports teams assembled on Gifford Field as the students tramped up, taking their seats on the stands. Welcoming them was music in the booth. After the National Anthem was sung by two senior choir members, Mr. Adams, the Morris Hills Sports Announcer, introduced Mr. Fahrer as he played to the crowd. Mr Diaz came next, with cheers coming from the stands. Contrary to previous pep rallies, the teachers played off each other, making it a competition between them as they introduced the fall sports teams.
A theme of this year was definitely the Barbie Movie, as the volleyball and field hockey team came out with banners of the film.
The boys soccer team ran in next, forming a V formation as number 15 performed a backwards jump, made famous by the soccer player Renaldo. The marching band followed by playing two pieces, delighting the crowd. Mr. Diaz and Mr. Fahrer picked their teams for musical chairs next, with students participating across the grades. The game bounced back and forth, both teams taking and then losing the lead. Deciding walking was too slow, Mr. Fahrer decided to throw in skipping, the gritty, spinning, and good old fashioned backwards walking. Mr. Diaz’s team ended up winning musical chairs, with a junior securing the seat to victory.
The cross country teams ran in to the applause of the crowd, the boys in particular forming a circle with their flag in the middle and the falling down. After this, Mr. Diaz and Mr. Fahrer picked teams for tug-of-war, Mr. Diaz picking the strongest looking people he could find while Mr. Fahrer deciding heart matters a little bit more. As expected, the game was one sided and Mr. Diaz pulled away with this fall pep rally victory.
The cheerleaders performed a stunning performance, earning a round of applause at their jumps and display of athleticism. The football team was then called in and formed a huddle in the center of the field. They ran off the field to Mr. Fahrer’s voice as he enthusiastically tried to pump up the crowd one last time, concluding the Fall Pep Rally.
