As we progress more and more into the school year, being able to balance a work-life schedule becomes increasingly important. As a senior, I have had my fair share of academic challenges, so here are some tips to avoiding potential stressors, and taking the pressure off of doing school work:
First things first, start off the year strong. Have organized notes, and keep your backpack clean. I like to separate each of my classes into a different binder, with a divider separating in-class work with homework. Having a clean backpack makes it easier to find the materials you need for class without searching too long.
Work hard, play hard. Use the weekdays to get all of your school work over with, so on the weekends you can review and relax. Relaxing and taking breaks is the most important thing!
Tip for AP students: watch the AP classroom videos! They are helpful summaries of units, and can help you gain clarity because they provide simpler definitions that are easier to understand than textbook readings.
Lastly, try to be at least one chapter ahead of the class. Being a little bit ahead can help you buy time for more extra curricular activities, or time with friends and family. Utilizing some, if not all, of these tips will ensure you’ll succeed in all of your classes at high school. Good luck!
