The Morris Hills SGA, along with Mrs. Niemo and Mrs. Moreno, hosted Morris Hills’ annual Homecoming Dance on Saturday, Sept 23. The much anticipated dance was preceded by an entire week of school spirit during which students and staff dressed up in support of our school. With themes like “Rhyme without Reason” and “On Wednesday we wear pink” the student body did not disappoint in showing up and showing out for Spirit Week. Finally, on the big night, students arrived dressed to the nines and ready to dance the night away. In contrast to previous years, the new and improved homecoming dance included many highly requested features by the students including full use of the gym, air conditioning, improved song list, and more!
Unsurprisingly, the photobooth was an extremely popular choice for the evening, and lines to get a photo with friends spread from one side of the gym to the other. Another new facet of the dance: karaoke piqued the students’ interests and musically gifted or not, students made lasting memories singing their hearts out in the cafeteria. Congratulations to Kayla Reid for winning homecoming queen and Danielle Rizzo for homecoming princess. Among the homecoming court who aided greatly in the planning for this event were Theresa Brown, Gianna Ciampi, Julianna Dattolo, Sloan Epstein, Madelyn Epstein, Lexie Haigh, Grace Seligmuller, and Caitlin Willer.
Earlier that day, our determined football team played in the annual homecoming day against Montville High School. Defying the rainy weather, players led by quarterback Rocco Marchese left their hearts on the field. Despite their best efforts, Morris Hills lost with a score of 42-20. Nevertheless, our players held their heads up high dancing the night away at the Homecoming dance and are now more ready than ever to take on the enemy.
