Morris Hills Regional District’s Visual and Performing Arts Department is holding an event titled the Holiday Extravaganza on December 19th, 2023! Ensembles from both Morris Hills and Morris Knolls have been putting in considerable effort to ensure the event’s success. Students will be singing and dancing to various cultural music, with some popular winter tunes thrown into the mix.
Mrs. Michelle Uhler is our Director of Choral Activities. A group she oversees, titled the Knights Templar, will be performing at the Extravaganza alongside the Morris Knolls Chorale. She is super excited that Morris Hills and Knolls will be coming together to put on a fantastic performance that celebrates many of the different holidays occurring during the winter months. In addition, Mrs. Uhler believes people should come because it is an exciting event for all ages! All proceeds from the event will go towards student scholarships as well.
Mr. Brett Izsa is the Director of Orchestral Activities at MHRD. The District Symphony Orchestra, an auditioned ensemble composed of students from grades 9-12, will be performing at the Extravaganza. Mr. Izsa loves that the Extravaganza is the opportunity for so many musicians, artists, dancers, and performers, to be in the same space, at the same time, collaborating to create an incredible experience. In addition to multimedia, dancers, and actors, the Extravaganza is sure to be an exciting event for all! He believes that people should come because it enhances the holiday joy people need to start their holiday season! Additionally, students from the combined schools will be showcasing their musical talents for all to enjoy.
Mr. Richard Hartsuiker is our Director of Bands. He says that the Holiday Extravaganza may be the first of its kind for any school district ever! He is very excited for the diversity of the events and the amount of cultures on display. In addition, the sheer amount of students participating in both Morris Hills and Morris Knolls will lead to an amazing event.
The Holiday Extravaganza is the first of its kind and our musical directors are extremely excited to put this show on for the MHRD community! Join the Visual and Performing Arts department this holiday season on Dec. 19, 2023, at 7PM in the Morris Knolls auditorium, for a night filled with beautiful music, impressive dances, and holiday joy!
