The Morris Hills Math Club, led by Jason Mao, Kevin Chen, and Prathamesh Trivedi, has seen a myriad of luminous achievements. The Math Club has further built a name for itself by partaking and exceptionally placing high in various prestigious math competitions. This success is bolded, particularly, in the Joseph W. Andrushkiw Competition, in which the Morris Hills Math Club placed first overall. Math Club Advisor Mrs. Skutnik speaks upon the rising popularity stating that, “The math club is organized by four young men who truly love math and their excitement is definitely spreading.”
Diving deeper into the format of the competition, each participant is given a 90-minute, 16-question examination that covers topics like algebra, geometry, trigonometry, theory of equations, combinatorics, and probability. Other eminent competitions, such as the Math Majors of America Tournament for High Schools and the Princeton University Mathematics Competition are also under the expanding portfolio of the Math Club. Leader Kevin Chen mentions that, “In the future, we plan on hosting more in-club activities and contests, as well as participating in more outside competitions, ranging from the local to national level.” As well as this, the Math Club hopes to stretch their passion for mathematics all around the school in the coming years and prolong their triumph.
