Fifty-three DECA members attended and competed in the New Jersey State Career Development Conference at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City on March 4-6, 2024. At that event, twenty five students found out that they are moving on and qualified to attend the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC). ICDC is the culmination of the DECA year where more than 22,000 high school students, teacher-advisors, business professionals and alumni gather for several days of DECA excitement. This year’s conference is taking place from April 27-30 in Anaheim, California.
FBLA is another business competitive event club. Thirty five FBLA members attended the State Leadership Conference on March 12-13 in Atlantic City and competed against members from across the entire state of NJ. Thirteen students qualified for the National Leadership Conference, which will be held at the end of June in Orlando, Florida.
Numerous students competed in both competitions and gained valuable experiences from both. Partners Syon Gupta and David Xu advanced to the national conferences in both competitions. David explains how joining DECA was his “first step in immersing [himself] in the business world.” He thanks “Ms. Perry, and the abundant resources through the club” for the “invaluable skills” that he has learned. His partner Syon Gupta praises FBLA as well, claiming that “FBLA is a life changing experience for those interested in business and technology” and that the “students and advisors Ms. Jackson and Ms. Salisbury motivates me to pursue bigger goals that will guide me to success as a business leader.” Both students had an enjoyable and educational experience at the state conferences.
Congratulations to all of the DECA and FBLA members for their outstanding accomplishments and commitment to the clubs.
