Morris Hills has been updating its hallways with refurbished bathrooms and the new Smart Pass system, but the upgrades don’t end there. Coming to the school’s library is a series of renovations tentatively scheduled to begin next fall.
“The renovations will include updating the interior design, replacing outdated furniture, improving the layout for better traffic flow and collaboration, and adding new technology and resources,” said Mrs. Toriello, District Director of Language Arts.
She noted that the renovated library will likely include dedicated quiet study areas and usable classroom spaces. Students have been asked to fill out a short survey for staff to further identify how the library can serve their needs.
Mrs. Toriello described how through these changes, the administration’s goal is to foster an “inviting, flexible, and modern learning environment that will inspire students, support diverse learning needs, and prepare them with 21st-century skills.”
By updating the space and resources, the library aims to provide a variety of learning environments to better support students and engage the school community.
“I’m excited about the new developments to come as the library is such a frequented area in the school. It really is a great place to work and study, and anything that will make it more comfortable would be amazing for the students” junior Ishita Banerjee said.
“We envision the renovated library as being the vibrant heart of student life on the MH campus – a multipurpose hub for research, study, exploration, and connection,” Mrs. Toriello said.
Mrs. Toriello added, “Ultimately, the new library strives to be an essential resource and favorite destination that empowers student learning.”
