On Wednesday, March 20, Morris Hills E.R.A.S.E Club and the club advisor Mrs. Ghetti held their annual Multicultural Dinner. Over 250 students, parents, and staff came out to enjoy the variety of over 50 different cultural dishes, music, and traditions. From the delicious food to the cultural music and decor, the multicultural dinner was a success and enjoyed by many. Food from many cultures was prepared: Mrs. Paulson’s quesadillas, French crêpes, Asian bilo-bilo and tanghulu, authentic Italian pasta, and more! But wait, there’s more! Cultural temporary tattoos were put on allowing students and parents to represent beautiful cultural patterns and symbols. There were other activities like painting, origami, and mancala too! The playlist for the night featured music from various cultures from Indian to Spanish music. Students had lots of fun dancing to the rhythms and wearing their sombreros, sarees, and other clothing. Beautiful performances were put on featuring junior Bethany Soto’s mom who played a song on the violin and junior Tiffany Albornoz’s wonderful singing.
Mrs. Ghetti describes that the goal of this event is to give an “opportunity for students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds to come together and celebrate their differences. In sharing cross-cultural experiences, students become more understanding and accepting of others.” With that, I’d say the Multicultural Dinner for 2024 was a success! Sophomore, Kashvi Patel said, “I had a great time! The food represented a lot of diversity but also unity.”Students enjoyed the tasty food and had lots of fun participating in all the various activities.
Thank you to everyone who helped including the Social Studies Honor Society and Project L.E.A.D. who worked tirelessly with the E.R.A.S.E Club to make sure this event ran smoothly. And most importantly, none of this would be possible without Mrs. Ghetti, so to everyone, thank you for making this such a wonderful experience!
