Nothing says “curly hair” like spending $100 on hair products for curls that last less than two days!
Maintaining curly hair is a struggle, from dealing with frizz to finding the perfect curl products. The Hilltopper asked the Morris Hills student body about their curly hair crises and compiled a list of their favorite hair products!
Senior Nicolette Sookraj’s hair care routine begins with shampoo and conditioner. “My hair is damaged because I dye it, so I use ones with protein,” she said. “I use Redken Extreme Shampoo and Conditioner, but Pureology products are good, too.”
She uses the Ouidad Advanced Climate Control curl cream before styling her hair with a Denman Brush and then applies Cake Beauty Curl Whip Whipped Curl Mousse. “I do this for every section and then I let it air dry 80%, and then I go in with my diffuser and finish off with an oil or serum – usually the Paul Mitchell’s Super Skinny Serum,” Nicolette said.
“Then, I put it all in a bonnet at night to protect the curls while I sleep,” she concluded.
Senior Anu Suresh discussed her challenges with her curly hair. “My curls barely last a couple of days, so I’ll usually throw it in a messy bun or slick it back,” she said.
Senior Shreyas Angadi, however, doesn’t use any products to manage his curls. He discussed his difficulties in experimenting with different haircuts, saying that he often resorts to his “default.”
I personally recommend the Function of Beauty curl shampoo and conditioner. After washing my hair, I typically apply Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk Defining Cream to define my curls.
