As everyone welcomed the New Year, students had ideas of what they wanted 2025 to look like. Every January, people make New Year’s resolutions, and this year, Morris Hills students were eager to tackle their new goals.
Like many people, students expressed their resolution of health and fitness. Students of all different grades made weekly goals to work out a few times a week or eat less unhealthy foods.
Junior Kayla Ruiz explained that her resolution was to work out four times a week. She has been consistent and said that “working out has helped me [her] increase my [her] energy and improve health overall.” After almost two months of her new weekly habit, she has noticed decreased stress, more energy, and overall better health.
Other students, whether getting more sleep, waking up early, or working out, wanted to focus on other personal goals, whether they were small or big. “I spent the majority of high school focusing on schoolwork and other commitments that I [she] missed out on a lot of time with family,” said senior Navya Vasireddy.
In 2025, she made the New Year’s resolution of spending more time with family, especially since she’ll be heading off to college, and has successfully done so, taking more time to talk with her parents and catch up with them about what’s going on.
One junior expressed their faith-based goals that she wants to meet. Wanting to have a closer relationship with God, she made the New Year’s Resolution of reading at least two books of the Bible each month. About two months into 2025, she expressed an eagerness to read. “It has been somewhat easy to be consistent. Some days I forget or don’t have a lot of time, but I’ve been finishing the two books before the end of the month,” she said.
Morris Hills students are more than excited to tackle their goals for 2025, and building new habits is a process and journey they are willing to take. Even though we’re two months into the new year, it’s not too late to make goals!
Whether it be daily, weekly, or monthly goals, you have control of what you do with your life, and Morris Hills is starting off right!
