Mr. Livigne, Teacher of Visual Art at Morris Hills High School, challenges his students to think outside the box on a regular basis, and this project is no exception. “Mr. L in the Multiverse” is an end of year project in which students are tasked to draw Mr. Livigne, either realistically, or in the style of another cartoon or animation style. Those that chose to draw a realistic portrait were able to work in pencil and grayscale. Students who chose to mimic a different illustration/animation style were tasked to include color. Mr. Livigne even posed for students to take photos of him for inspiration, while others pulled images from his professional Instagram account, which he uses to share his own work and the work of Hills students. Students chose to create Mr. L as a Simpsons character, critiquing Bob Ross, and even as a friend of Bluey! Other students decided to show off Mr. L’s serious side by creating realistic portraits of their beloved teacher. Below is a sample of some of the Mr. L illustrations his students came up with.
