The Hilltopper is excited to announce The Scarlet Voice, Morris Hills’ very first school podcast! The podcast is looking for students interested in interviewing, editing, script-writing, and marketing for each episode. From current events to school happenings to real-time conversations with peers, each episode will provide an inside look into the heart of our community.
The Scarlet Voice podcast initiative is the current focus of Editor-in-Chief Navya Vasireddy’s GT independent study in journalism. Ms. Petrosino, teacher of English and the newspaper’s head advisor, serves as her GT mentor and offers her unwavering support, as Navya explores the unfamiliar world of podcasting alongside the Hilltopper staff.
A podcast like The Scarlet Voice has the power and potential to bring the student body together by offering a platform for open dialogue. Students who participate, whether you’re an interviewer or part of our marketing team, will have the opportunity to develop real-world skills.
Interviewers will have the opportunity to lead the conversation on an episode as the host, engaging in conversation with the guest speaker. Editors will piece together the episode, ensuring that the episode flows smoothly, crucial to the creation of the final product. Script-writers will work hand-in-hand with the interviewer, laying out a roadmap for the episode and drafting questions and conversation points. The marketing team will be responsible for promoting each episode and managing the podcast’s social media.
If you’d like to learn more about The Scarlet Voice or any of the positions, feel free to reach out to Navya ([email protected]).
