NJ Dramatic Dialogue Finalist: Alandra DiCiccio

Finalist, MH Senior Alandra DiCiccio

Finalist, MH Senior Alandra DiCiccio

Senior Alandra DiCiccio was a finalist for dramatic monologue at the STANJ (Speech & Theatre Association of New Jersey) annual Governor’s Awards competition. Alandra was one of the 12 students that made it to the final rounds. The competition took place at Montclair State University on Jan. 7.  Alandra has been involved in theater at Hills since Freshman year and is an active member of our Thespian Society. She has always been drawn to plays and enjoys “being able to express a character.” Alandra performed a dramatic monologue from Live Broadcast by John William Schiffbauer. Drama, unlike comedy, focuses on serious plots. Alandra honed the character of a female congresswoman who argues that it should be illegal to protest outside of abortion centers. Although she was initially disappointed that she wasn’t in the top finalists, she looks back on the competition fondly now, and with pride. We are also proud of Alandra and congratulate her on this success.
