On Friday Oct. 20 freshman students voted for their class officers that would represent them throughout their freshman year at Morris Hills. The winners were announced on the loud speaker during Block 8 the following week. Alexa Francia was elected president, Megha Srinivas was elected vice president, Myra Gupta was elected secretary and Ella D’Agostino was elected treasurer. The president Alexa Francia explained, “The feeling I felt after hearing I received the position as President, was overjoyed. I was thankful and excited, but also ready to start working!” Megha Srinivas, the vice president, shared a similar sentiment. She commented, “I felt proud of what I had accomplished, and was excited to take on the role of the Freshman Class Vice President.”
The class officers have big plans for the freshman class of 2027, including numerous fundraisers and events. Alexa wants to do a hot chocolate bar for the entire school and multiple other fundraisers. She has created an Instagram account for the class and would appreciate it if everyone could follow it! In addition, the vice president Megha would like to have multiple dances and bake sales to fundraise for the class. Her goal is to raise enough money by junior/senior year so many expenses will be covered such as prom and other fun events. The class secretary Myra is looking forward to being a part of the leadership team and communicating ideas from the freshman class to administration. Even the class treasurer is looking into a possible dine to donate with the pizzeria M&S in the future. These ideas show how involved the class officers are into making our future years at Morris Hills memorable.
Make sure to look out for information about some fun class events because there is a lot to be looking forward to! Remember to follow the Class Of 2027 Instagram account to support your class and of course our amazing class officers!
