This year, GT senior Chloe Kilgallen is making a meaningful impact through her Independent Study, Youth Business Education. Her project focuses on teaching financial literacy by covering topics like business basics, money management, and saving, to elementary school students. Chloe believes that when children build strong financial habits early, those habits grow with them and help shape confident, capable adults.
One of her proudest accomplishments so far has been presenting her lessons directly in classrooms. She describes the experience as both exciting and rewarding. “I’ve always believed kids should have baseline knowledge of business and money,” she shared. “Seeing their hands shoot up with the right answers during my lessons showed me how quickly they were absorbing the material.”
Looking ahead, Chloe hopes to expand her work beyond elementary school. Her goal is to bring her presentations to middle school students, building on what they already know and helping them grow even more confident in their understanding of financial concepts. “The more they know, the more comfort they may have as adults,” she explained.
Through her GT, Chloe is not only strengthening her own skills but also giving younger students tools they will carry beyond the classroom. Her passion for empowering the next generation makes her a standout in this year’s GT program.
