In a stunning display of teamwork, the Morris Hills track team clinched a hard-earned victory at the Morris County Relay Championship. This win highlights the team’s skill as well as their unwavering determination and unity throughout the competition.
This past week the track team had made history for Morris Hills. The girls team had won their first championship since 1987 and the boys team since 2020. They won the shot put, pole vault, and sprint medley events, scoring a total of 52 points, trailing ahead by 16. This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every athlete and coach.
“It feels unreal seeing this team evolve from my freshman year to where it is now,” said Morris Hills senior Ivory Piskula. “Having all my teammates and my hard work pay off to have the team win a championship meet is amazing.”
Ivory ran the 1600-meter leg of the distance medley relay, the 800-meter leg of the sprint medley relay, and the last leg of the 4×400 relay. “Before running, I focused on remembering the race plan and told myself that once I start running everything would work out,” she said.
“During running, I would listen to my coach each lap to tell me what I needed to do in order to race well and I just focused on trusting his words.”
Once again, congratulations to the Morris Hills winter track team for their impressive performance and win!
