Girls X Country Rebuilds
January 7, 2014
This season was one of rebuilding for the Girls Cross Country team, as most of last year’s varsity team graduated. Coach Lauren Jackson said, “[their] challenge was to build from that. The team overcame the odds with Ashleigh Thurston qualifying for the Meet of Champions and placing 23rd According to Coach Jackson, she has proven to be one of the fastest girls in the history of Morris Hills. Other runners who contributed to the team’s 3-4 season are Danielle Hanson, Rebecca Fang and Taylor Holeczko. Emily Hill, Nicole Caulfield, Amanda Goulden, and Christine Lu filled the rest of the varsity roster. Coach Jackson is most proud of the girls’ positive attitudes. She said, “They came a long way from the start of the season.” Jackson’s goal for next year is to improve as a team and build upon this year’s accomplishments.
