Ten Games to Look Out For in 2014

As 2014 continues, the gaming industry is gearing up to release some of the most innovative games to date. With the shift of console generations, developers are rushing to get titles out for the consoles, which tags this year as a gaming milestone. Although all very different, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Playstation Vita all have fantastic titles releasing in the next 11 months.
Titanfall
Platform: Xbox One, Xbox 360
Release Date: March 11
Titanfall puts players into the distant future frontier, allowing them the choice to play as an elite pilot or a gigantic Titan. While Titanfall does have a single player mode, the main focus is the fast paced multiplayer battles that combine tactics and strength into campaign style gameplay.
Elder Scrolls Online
Platform: PC, Xbox One, Playstation 4
Release Date: April 4
As the first Massive Multiplayer Online game in the series, Elder Scrolls Online allows players to venture out into the lands of Skyrim, Cyrodiil, Morrowind, and other areas of Tamriel. As with the other games, ESO allows for full customization of characters and classes, and focuses on a very nonlinear storyline, making it one of the most complex MMOs on the market.
inFAMOUS: Second Son
Platform: Playstation 4
Release Date: March 21
As the most sought-after PS4 exclusive, inFAMOUS Second Son follows in the footsteps of a new hero, or antihero depending on the player’s decisions. The game starts out with deciding whether or not to save someone, and that decision changes the entire gameplay. Second Son really focuses on combining the sandbox effect with a great storyline and fantastic action sequences to create another installment to the inFAMOUS series.
Thief
Platform: Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3
Release Date: February 25
The City has overcome great grief, where the rich come above all else and the poor are stuck sulking on the side of the road. Players assume the role of Garret, a master thief, in order to change the disease ridden world around him. Each level comes packed with many decisions, causing multiple paths to play through the game with.
Watch_Dogs
Platform: Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U
Release Date: Spring
Set in the future, Watch_Dogs combines newly developed technology and the sophisticated world it comes from into a game that is different from anything shown before. Players assume the role of the protagonist in order to break into the town’s mainframe and hack the system by any means, trying to fix the corrupt system.
Mario Kart 8
Platform: Wii U
Release Date: May 30
A widespread favorite throughout the world, Mario Kart has been in households since the N64. Finally being released for the Wii U, Mario Kart 8 will not disappoint, displaying in full HD with many new quarks to explore. The largest feature of the game is the anti-gravity kart that allow players to drive upside down on the all new circuits.
Bravely Default
Platform: 3DS
Release Date: February 7
Bravely Default has been one of the largest Japanese RPGs to hit America, bringing players unknown to the turn based fighting style to a new light. Utilizing the 3DS’s street pass capability, Bravely Default allows for the game to move along faster. The game strongly encourages players to think strategically about every battle, debating between ‘Brave’ (increase the number of actions in a given turn) and ‘Default’ (store actions for later use).
Destiny
Platform: Xbox One, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

By the creators of the Xbox hit Halo, comes a new series that’s bound to spark any gamer’s interest. This first person shooter is set in a world that is constantly playing and changing- with the game happening while the player is offline. Your ultimate goal is to defend the city you rule, defeat the enemies that have invaded, and bring it back to its glory days.
Dark Souls 2
Platform: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3
Release Date: March 11
The sequel to the hardcore action RPG, Dark Souls 2 follows a new character through the depths of death and despair where only the most cunning and strong willed may survive. As always, the player starts off not knowing anything about the main character and can piece together bits of the story through the entire game, adding to the suspense of why you woke up in the dark abyss with a man ready to kill you.
South Park the stick of truth

Among the town of South Park, a gigantic live action role playing game breaks out. As the new kid in town, players fight to fit in and make friends. The objective is to battle through good and evil in order to recover the lost stick of truth. Prevail, and become the ruler of the playground or fail, and you will forever be a loser.
