Seniors Let Loose at Celebratory Picnic

On May 25, the Class of 2023 held their Senior Picnic on Gifford Field, celebrating the end of their high school career. The picnic closed the chapter to a tumultuous four years of high school for the Class of 2023. Prior to the picnic, seniors were given the choice to sign up for the red, black, gray or white team and arrived wearing their selected team’s colors. Team members flooded Gifford Field, anticipating the long-awaited activities. Students participating in teams played entertaining games with great enthusiasm. Some of the thrilling games the teams participated in tested which could mummify a teammate the fastest with toilet paper and which could eat a watermelon the fastest. The dizzy bat race, corn hole competition, and the inflatable wrecking ball were also a hit. There were water games–the sponge and bucket race and water balloon toss. The competition was intense as each team fought hard to win. Loud cheers and claps roared throughout Gifford as teammates cheered each other on during the activities. Senior Class Secretary Akshaj Mundada said “I loved planning the senior picnic and thought the inflatable wrecking ball was the best part! I wish we did this every year.” Seniors who chose not to be on a team brought their own blankets and relaxed on Gifford Field, enjoying the bright sun and playing their own games. After some time, seniors were treated to a BBQ during lunch. To wrap up the picnic, yearbooks were distributed by MH Torch staff.  Seniors were the first of the MH Community to receive their final yearbook in order to reminisce on their memories made throughout high school. Overall, it was a day when seniors could spend time with their classmates before graduation approaches on June 21.
